How to Prepare for Your Plasma Treatment

Hydration, medication to pause, what to wear, and how to plan the days either side of your appointment.

The week before

Avoid anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen for three days before treatment, as it can blunt the very healing response the therapy relies on. Speak to your physician first if any medication was prescribed to you — never stop prescribed medication without advice.

Keep alcohol light and sleep well. Healthy platelets make for a stronger plasma concentrate.

The day itself

Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours beforehand; well-hydrated patients have an easier blood draw. Eat a normal breakfast, and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Arrive at your allocated time. Arrivals are deliberately staggered so that you will not share a waiting area with another patient.

Afterwards

Resume ordinary activity immediately. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and hot tubs for 48 hours.

Your physician will arrange a follow-up review so progress can be measured objectively.
